SouthEast Companion Animal Rescue & Education Services, Inc is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation based in Florida.
Our organization began in 2008 with the specific focus of providing assistance to sugar gliders and their owners. SouthEast Sugar Gliders, Inc earned its 501(c)(3) exemption status in 2009, but we weren’t content to stop there. Our Board of Directors has loved, and worked with, a variety of animals over the years, and they wanted to expand our organization’s focus to include those animals. In 2010, we did just that by becoming SouthEast Companion Animal Rescue & Education Services, Inc (SECARES). Our goal to improve the lives of animals has never wavered…we just help more types of animals. From dogs and cats to rats, chinchillas and (of course) sugar gliders, we offer education and limited financial assistance for veterinary services to both individuals and rescue organizations.
One paw forward, that’s how we’re approaching our future. With every life we touch, we are inspired to do more. We know we can’t do it alone. Cooperation, collaboration and community…these principles are our foundation and our future. SECARES will continue to build relationships with veterinarians, animal care organizations and pet owners, and together, we can give more animals happy and healthy lives.
